Looking for info about the new Warzone map? Though it was announced during the Call of Duty: Vanguard reveal, we’ve only just got our first proper look at our new Pacific arena. Warzone Caldera is a lush island around the size of Verdansk, and is dropping in December alongside a new anti-cheat tool. Warzone will also be getting its very own rebirth, becoming Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific.

This new lush island location seems pretty extensive, with a whole variety of locales to play around in, and will even become a theatre for aerial warfare with the new dogfighting playlist that’s coming alongside Season 1. Among other things, we also got confirmation that Rebirth Island is sticking around. So even though Verdansk is being retired, we’ll still have another map.

In the run up to the Warzone Caldera release date, there are also plenty of events teasing the new map, including the ominously named ‘Last Hours of Verdansk’ which will hopefully involve some dramatic fireworks. If you’re looking to get into shape for the new map with some competitive builds, be sure to give this best Warzone loadout list a look.

Warzone Caldera: Everything we know about the new Pacific map

It’s official: we’re heading to the Pacific with Warzone Caldera, a new map slated to drop on December 2 alongside season one of Warzone Pacific, and the introduction of anti-cheat tool, Ricochet. This island boasts ‘200 points of interest’ with picturesque beaches, tiny villages, lush forests, and even its very own dormant volcano that I’m sure will erupt at an inopportune moment.

The Warzone Caldera map is also approximately the same size as Verdansk. Though it was teased a while back, we finally got our first proper look at the map in this blog post and recent roadmap. You can get a bit of an idea of some of the areas in this map teaser tweeted by Activision Executive, Pelle Sjoenell:

Caldera is also going to be home to aerial warfare with the new dedicated dogfighting playlist, pitting pilots against each other in fighter battles above the scenic island. If you want to see more of it before it releases, there are multiple events over the next two weeks that will tease the map, including Operation Flashback mode on November 18, Secrets of the Pacific on November 24, and Last Hours of Verdansk on November 30

Verdansk map updates: what’s changing?

In Warzone Season 6, Verdansk has some pretty big map changes. The stadium is shaken up with a huge fissure separating the central grounds into the split upper area and the underground section below. Other parts of downtown have been ruined with fallen buildings as well.

There are also new Warzone bunkers for you to discover and find your way inside, and though they don’t offer lots of loot, or require passcodes, their role is likely still to be played as part of teasing Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Last up for Warzone map changes is the return of the original locker room Gulag level. The dark, tight spaces of the 1v1 area are back for season 6.

Warzone Verdansk map hot zones and best loot

The best Warzone loot can be found in supply boxes scattered across the map. The valuable items found in these chests are random, containing weapons (often blueprints with pre-fitted attachments), field upgrades, cash, and even the occasional killstreak. However, it’s always worth keeping an eye out for the rarer, orange boxes, which hold better gear such as gas masks and armor satchels that let you hold more armor plates.

Closely related to the best loot are the hottest zones on the Warzone map. Hot zones are where you can expect the most bloodshed to go down at the very beginning of the game. Whether you want to avoid them so you can loot in peace or find somewhere to immediately bloody your hands, check the list below. It’s no coincidence that these locations also coincide with loot-rich spots.

Here’s a list of the hot zones:

  • Gora Summit
  • Verdansk Airport
  • Superstore
  • Verdansk Hospital
  • Downtown Tavorsk District

Warzone Rebirth Island map: Best drop locations

Rebirth Island is a much smaller map, currently available in its own playlist. Modes like Rebirth Mini Royale Quads/ Duos are fast-paced matches that take place in condensed areas on the island. If you’re hoping to run into other squads quickly as you hunt for the best Warzone guns, here are the best Rebirth Island drop locations:

  • Prison Block
  • Decon Zone
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Factory

There are also five ammo caches across Rebirth Island, found in: Factory, Chemical Engineering, Security Area, east of Construction Site, and west of Decon Zone.
